Virat Kohli became the fastest batsman to score 5000

  • The famous Indian Cricketer Virat Kohli became the fastest batsman to score 5000 runs in one-day internationals.On 21 November 2013, Kohli scored 86 against the West Indies in the first ODI in Kochi.
  • Kohli achieved this in just 120 matches and 114 innings. He scored 5005 runs, which included 17 centuries and 27 fifties in his short career.
  • Earlier,former captain Sourav Ganguly was the fastest to achieve this record among Indian batsmen in 131 matches and 126 innings, next Mahendra Singh Dhoni (135 innings), Gautam Gambhir (135 innings) and Sachin Tendulkar (138 innings) are the next fastest batsmen to reach the 5000 runs in ODIs.

Mars orbiter of ISRO sent first pictures of earth

On 21 November 2013, The Mars Orbiter Mission also known as Mangalyaan has sent the first set of pictures, that was captured by Mars Color Camera fitted on Mars Orbiter spacecraft. The Indian subcontinent and parts of Africa has captured this picture of earth.

V. Baskaran appointed as a Coach of the Senior Men Hockey Team

  • Vasudevan Baskaran was the captain of the team that won the gold medal at the 1980 Olympics in Moscow has 287 internationals caps and has represented India in the Olympic Games in 1976 (Montreal) , 1978(Buenos Aires) , 1974 (Tehran), 1973 (Amsterdam).
  • In 1980, Baskaran received the Arjuna Award and in 1981 he received Padamshri Award.

44th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) began at Goa

 The International Film Festival of India (IFFI) is one of the most significant film festivals in Asia, that held every year.

On 20 November 2013, the 44th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) began at Panaji in Goa.
The first festival of IFFI was organized by the Films Division, Government of India at Mumbai 1952.

(from 20 to 30 November 2013) The 44th International Film Festival of India is organized by the IFFI Secretariat under the aegis of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India, in collaboration with the Government of Goa.

A variety of film screening programmes, academic sessions and cultural exchange programmes will mark the occasion. Around 160 foreign films are to be showcased in here under various categories.

Jiri Menzel the legendary Czech film director is honoured with The Lifetime Achievement Award. The first Centenary Award for Indian Film Personality of the Year will be conferred to actress Waheeda Rehamn.


In this flim festival, 16 films from around the world competing for the coveted Peacock Awards. Best Film will get a Cash prize of 40 lakhs Rupees to be shared equally between the Director and Producer and the Director will be given the Golden Peacock.
